Lowenbrau Keller (Corner of Playfair & Argyle St, The Rocks) is my happy place previously posted about here with outdoor seating that’s perfect for people watching and a cavernous bier hall within. I have a particular fondness for the Mango Weizen- a Franziskaner wheat bier with mango juice that is both refreshing and so very easy to drink :D

I love the idea of Christmas in July, because here in Australia Christmas occurs during our summer and a hearty roast with all the trimmings is the last thing we feel like preparing on a hot day. An Australian Christmas lunch usually consists of seafood or a BBQ and then a dip in the pool. Christmas in July means we get to indulge in all of the traditional dishes when we can truly enjoy them – when it’s cold outside!

How do you say Löwenbräu? Did you know the correct pronunciation is loov-en-brau loov-en-broy lurvin-broy [ack. I still got it wrong. Corrected now thanks to anon and Rissole below]? Yes, all this time I've been saying it wrong! Low-en-brau be gone, it's lurvin-broy with a rolling r from now on. Musical Germanic accent entirely optional

Probably one of the greatest nights out I've ever had. Managed to squeeze into the packed restaurant with a few companions and ordered a light dish of sausage, mash and sauerkraut. Generous and delecious meal that inspired me to attempt making my own sauerkraut (and failed). The atmosphere was the seller for this place, with the Bavarian brass band in full swing singing traditional folk songs, Everyone in the restaurant was having a good time.
