Our very own Restaurant Manager Reinhard Wurtz stepped into the history books on 15 November 2007 after a successful world record attempt. Reinhard now holds the Guinness World Record for the most 1-litre bier steins carried over 40m after he managed to move an impressive 20 steins at the Löwenbräu Keller.
The previous record of 16 steins was held by Bavarian barmaid Anita Schwartz. But the Bavarian-born Reinhard (who only recently became an Australian citizen) said he was thrilled to bring the record to Australian shores.
With each stein weighing in at a minimum of 2.5kg when filled with bier, Reinhard's precious cargo packed some serious weight.
"The secret to stein carrying is to have long slender finger and strong arms – a love of drinking wheat bier also helps because it has 14 amino acids to help your muscles grow!" Reinhard said.
